Angela Marino, MSW, LCSW, RYT

Angela’s approach to counseling is both collaborative and holistic, centering around her values of mindfulness, connection, embodied presence, and deep listening. Angela believes people are whole and have everything needed to heal. She believes there just may be things (thoughts, beliefs, actions, etc.) blocking access to our own internal resources.  She creates space for people to connect with their unique and powerfully authentic voice- that deepest truth inside that can serve as an inner compass, guiding people to live a meaningful and purposeful life.

Over the past thirteen years, Angela has worked in a variety of settings that have given both breadth and depth to her clinical skills. Before beginning her private practice in 2011, she provided counseling and advocacy at a domestic violence center in Florida, and she also worked with home hospice care, supporting patients and families through the process of grief and loss.

Angela’s specialty is working with women and teenage girls who have experienced (or are experiencing) trauma, loss and grief, anxiety, and depression. Her practice incorporates traditional counseling approaches, as well as mindfulness practices, breathwork, intuitive creating, and expressive arts therapy. She also integrates body-centered approaches, including mindful movement, yoga therapy, and authentic/intuitive movement.

Angela grew up along the rocky and windswept shore of the Great Lake Superior in Minnesota. When she was 20 years old, she packed her car and intuitively headed west, falling in love with the mountains surrounding Seattle. In 2002, she moved to north central Florida where she graduated with a master’s degree in clinical social work and began her career as both an artist and counselor. While magical in it’s own way, the terrain of Florida never fit her love for the rugged and wild, so at the beginning of 2018, Angela moved to Asheville to build a simple, creative life where she is mirrored by seasons and a landscape that accurately reflects her internal world.

Outside of sessions, Angela is a writer, artist, and Kripalu-certified yoga teacher. She enjoys hiking with her partner and their blind dog, named Bear. She’s passionate about advocating for social justice, practicing radical honesty, and learning to love all of her messy-quirky-perfectly-imperfect humanness.
